Queensland Government Response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse

On 15 December 2017, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (the Royal Commission) presented its final report to governments. The final report and documents published by the Royal Commission are available on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

The Queensland Government response ((PDF, 2.3 MB)) to the Royal Commission was tabled by the Premier in Parliament on 15 June 2018.

The Queensland Government has committed to producing annual reports on implementation of Royal Commission recommendations for five years following the Royal Commission presenting its final report.

The Queensland Government's first annual progress report ((PDF, 711 KB)) was tabled in Parliament on 19 December 2018.

The second annual progress report ((PDF, 1014 KB)) was tabled in Parliament on 2 October 2020.

The Queensland Government continues to acknowledge the immense work of the Royal Commission over the five years of its inquiry and the immense bravery of all who courageously shared their stories.

  • Truth, Healing and Reconciliation Taskforce

    The Taskforce provided for the views of people who had experienced institutional child sexual abuse, support services and organisations in advice to the Queensland Government on implementing the reforms arising from the Royal Commission.

  • National Redress Scheme in Queensland

    In response to recommendations of the Royal Commission, the Australian Government developed a National Redress Scheme for people who were sexually abused as children in institutional settings before 1 July 2018.
