Early support for all parents and families
Raising a child is not always easy but there is support available for parents and carers.
- The Queensland Government provides free access to the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program to help Queensland parents and carers raise happy, healthy children and teenagers.
- If your family needs more support, Family and Child Connect can connect you with the local services you need to make things better for you and your family. There are 17 Family and Child Connect services covering Queensland and over 200 family support services to help you get through life's challenges and support your children to develop in healthy and positive ways. Phone 13 FAMILY (13 32 64) to find help in your local area. It's confidential, free and worth the call. Access to interpreters is available.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Wellbeing Services make it easier for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in communities across Queensland to access culturally responsive support to improve their social, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing, and build their capacity to safely care for and protect their children. Visit the website or phone 1300 117 095 to connect with a service nearby to access free, confidential advice and support.
- Ask Izzy is an online community service directory for parents, families and professionals looking to find local support. Simply search words that describe what you need help with, and where.
- Parentline is a confidential telephone counselling service which supports parents and carers of children. Phone 1300 301 300 from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week.
- The Raising Children Network website offers resources and information on parenting for children of all ages.
You can find out more about caring for a child, including information about education, child care services, adoptions and foster care on the Queensland Government website.
The website also has information for parents and families about a range of topics, such as raising babies, health services, family activities, financial help, family relationships and legal advice.
